It's definately not going to hurt your bike if you get one and there only about 60 bucks. Or take the chance of possibly blowing your motor.

they don't make one for the R6, you wanna know why? cause they break other ways way before oil starvation.

ps: oil pick up is in the back on the pan allready.

Only if you plan on keping it on the bar for more than a minute.
After that your airbox will chug oil

drill the valve cover put a line going to the front of the bike behind the head light and put a filter on it.block off the other line going to the air box.

i just eliminated all that oil into the air box crap and routed a hose all wacky through the bike and it ended right by my oil cooler thingy so it works out.. it wont dump all over my tire and it will be burned.

Re: to run or not to run a oilpick up in 04 r6

for some crazy reason oil pressure changes in these motors and it needs a place to displace the pressure...if you plug it up it will put the pressure on seals and blow those out n what not. yours has a crank case breather thingy to, just doesn't spew like the yamahas or is located better.

it doesn't have to do with oil pressure, any piston engine is gonna have some amount of blow by of the rings... no matter how little... if it has no where to go in a sealed case, it would build pressure till one of your seals (prolly valve cover) pops... so all engines have breathers, i know how it is on the 03-05 r6, but i dunno how other bikes do it... i guess it just happens that at 12 is low enough to start dumping oil down the line, which goes in the air box for emission reasons only... you could like some people said, run the line anywhere thats gonna stay higher than the engine and a breather to keep dirt out. my 05 does just fine with the motor off or or running for short times on the bar... but reving the **** out of it for very long on the bar (i did a 12 burnout once) and it chugs it.

Wednesday night rides will be back as soon as it gets a little warmer. Days are ok but its still cold at night. Should be even bigger this year. As long as you stay on top of your oill changes you'll be fine. I run full synthetic in my bike and just overfill it a little bit
