exposure doesnt pay bills... im down with charity, and im down for favors for friends... but at some point you have to put your foot down...

when i was body peircing i charged my friends, my tattoo artists did the same... service is a service practicing at a lot isnt a stuntshow. i dont charge for practice.

Be tactful and diplomatic. Explain just how good you guys are, explain the value you would bring to thier event and why you are better than ANYONE else for that particular show and why they should pay you at least a small fee.

Try that angle
Bottom line is this... it also cost your team money to do a show. You can be somewhere else (like work) making money. They can bring in other teams to do the show for free... but they already have a working relationship with YOU. You should also look at that angle. If they are using the fact that you are at the show, or that there is a stunt show (which you are performing), then it IS justifiable to ask for compensation... you just have to work with their budget, and tell them at this event, what it will cost to have you at their next event. Get something from them regardless of how little... just to set a standard.

Good luck.

Re: do show for free??

Ask to cover costs at least. If they asked you back, they obviously see that what you do helps draw a crowd, which in turn provides them with ticket sales (money). If you had hit them up again, might have been different scenario, but if they asked you... you have the upper hand (if only just).

My Anyway... good luck

Re: do show for free??

Go do the show. Take a junk bike with you. Have somebody start whipping a chainsaw with it around either the dj booth or something expensive. Then, as your buddies are creating a distraction with a tank stand or something....let it fly out of your hands and take out the dj equipment or a bunch of custom bikes. When the event coordinator freaks out later and goes on and on about how expensive your F-up is going to cost him, calmly look him in the eyes and let him know that you said you don't do shows for free anymore and this one was going to cost him.

Dayum!!! That one hurt...

Yo, don't do the show for free!!! No one should be doing any REAL shows for free.... Most of us look at this as a hobby, but it costs alot of money to do. SHOWS are a given opportunity to catch up on past & future costs. Start a little high and negotiate cheaper, but set up some standard rules and caculations.. i.e., mileage, hotel, tires, health insurance, etc...

Re: do show for free??

Tires cost money, which they are now generating plenty of, since you are going to go through several in this show. I would ask for something.

Are you serious?? You were in a parking lot and got a ticket and impounded, so what is the ****ing difference from stunting in the streets. Guarantee if you took off out of that parking lot that you would of got caught.

Atleast on the street if you take off you have a chance.

If your not "practicing" in an undisclosed legal location, there is no difference stunting on the street or the parking lot.

I think your just scared that some real STREET stunters will put you to shame...
