Would I be correct in assuming that if someone goes to an event, with the full knowledge and permission of the organisor, they still have to then go to every single rider and get permission to film them?

Not real sure here but I do think that any time you are in public you may be filmed with out consent.

One example- - music videos (live) , There are thousands of people in the crowed. I was at a Godsmack concert and they were filming for a DVD at the show.

if people rely on their image for income then your not allowed to use their footage in a competing market without their consent.

also if the footage puts the people in a slanderous light they can have a case too...

ultimately though it takes someone sueing another, money, and time.. its not worth it in my opinion. but out of courtesy people should respect each other to either ask permission for the footage or at very least give people titles props and credit for their footage..

skate videos do that a lot. whenever a good shot/trick is on screen many skate videos (411 series for instance) will put the riders name appear real quick on screen to at least allow the riders props.

giving the starring riders some videos to peddle, save, or give to sponsors is also nice.. doesnt cost the video producers much, and is a good way to keep themselves in good light and not burn bridges..

its a small industry, burning too many bridges isnt a good thing.

yeah its just a fine line between filming someone and using them... or filming them and giving them props or a few dvd's or whatever..
