What sprocket size combinations are you rockin'?

Well, after riding for about 7 years I had my first get-off a couple weeks ago. Long story short, I was hit by a car...his fault...he was cited, blah blah blah...
These recent event have made me consider sprocketing my bike and messing around a little more than the usual stuff, just to try a diff. style of riding.

My question to you guys is; what sprockets are you rockin (F&R+sizes) and what is you predominant style or preference of riding (parking lot/ around town/highway/etc.)?

Learn stock, clutch up from a stop in 1st gear and learn rear brake. Read the how to wheelie sticky.

My post was not an advice request on how to do a wheelie. I'm not sure where you got that from. All I asked were 2 questions about sprockets and prefered ride style.

What would you guess the top speed on the 636 be after going +10? Would it be useless at highway speeds or do you think it would still manage?

I am +10 on the 929 and it is decent for street use. If you plan on it for your daily driver maybe just go up like 7.

At what point does a new (longer) chain become necessary?

Re: What sprocket size combinations are you rockin'?

Back home I have -1 +5 on my F4i and its great for streets, lot and highway. I like that combo for everything especially since that’s my only bike and I rode highways alot but I am going to go to a -1 +10 once I get back home from Iraq. I want to have alot more engine brake than what I have right now so that’s my reasoning for going to a -1 +10 plus after asking alot of fellow F4i stunters the very same questions you are asking here in this thread I think 1- +10 will be good for my style of riding. I know it kind of sucks not know for sure what might be the best gearing to choose because if you go too big you can forget riding street hardcore anymore and not big enough you feel like you wasted your money. A lot of guys will say stock! stay stock! sure that’s true of course you could learn everything on stock but why not make it a little easier on yourself by going bigger and having that little extra engine brake than might come in very handy in a Oh Sh@t situation but that’s just my

Its funny hearing people say to stay stock when I doubt that many people on this forum are. Not to mention that I'm sure my 954 stock is a heck of a lot more twitchy than a stock F4i.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head with my train of thought. I'm looking for people with a tried and true combo that they've found to be most effective for their style.

Thanks for the input guys.

Ho Hey, be safe over there.

(92 f2) -2 +8 rock lots(circles on a non-adjustable carbed bike) and streets all day, highway is a bit loud and high revving though

01 929 it's currently -1+20 maybe one day I will learn how to ride it the way it's supposed to be ridden. Right now all of my riding is garbage, but it's harder learning on your own with no help at all.

Re: What sprocket size combinations are you rockin'?

man, just got off my 636 and we got some new gsxr 600s....
636 was great stock, that gsxr was giving me the hardest time until i geared the **** out of it...
just seemed like the bottom end was so so low,
i went 10 up and its rocking better than my 636...
