Re: Home of the First Wheelie

I grew up on a dirt road and saw some awesome wheelies (probably not by today's standards but they were badass then) in the early 80's by a bunch of hoodlums riding old style twin shock dirt bikes.

Re: Home of the First Wheelie

July 2003 got my first bike and lisence after returning from Iraq. Had the bike shipped from home to So Cal where I was stationed at the time. Sometime a month or so later I was meeting up at a local bike dealership for a sun ride, which at the time for the last month was all on 2 wheels. Halfway dn Coast Highway heading tword San Diego a guy on a ZX9 and an F4i pull up standups for miles. I was like WTF. I was amazed and didn't even know that high BP wheelies at that distance were even possiable. After that day my life was forever changed..

Re: Home of the First Wheelie

I can't remember that far back! I remember trying to do poppawheelies on my 88 Katana when I was 19. That turd had K&N's, stage 3 jet kit and V&H Pipe and wouldn't get out of it's own way! haha Then I had a stretched GSXR 1100 that would carry the front wheel about 6" halfway down the track. Then I got a Busa and had saw 12 O'clock and C&I 1 and learned 2nd gear power sitdowns. Been hooked every sense!

Re: Home of the First Wheelie

I cant remember the first wheelie ive ever seen, but i have two wheelies i remember that changed my life.
One of em was back in like...2000 i guess, me and a friend were rolling a convertable and gave this dude a peace sign on a bike next to us and he did a little sit down power wheelie. We freaked out, after that we both had to get bikes.
Then in like 2002 sometime i saw brock xxx do a 12 on US-1, bring it back and ride a slow wheelie for about 1/4 mile around a curve...madness.

i cant recall like FHL
prolly last year seen a guy on a r1 do a wheelie from the lights thought it was coolest thing ever

first decent wheelie i did i must of hit 11 oclock by accident, just set off from the lights, then grabbed a handful.. i remeber thinking very calmly.. looking up at the clouds and feeling the bars "hang on, this isnt right" haha

Dirt Bike.. KX500. Riders name was Paul. Rode out miles along the highways.

Its funny though, cause I just got this WR400, took it offroad and all these 125 riders were trying to wheelie. Had to bust out the skillz!!
