Going 2 Down, to much stress?
i have heard that going 2 or more down transfers alot of stress to the transmission and tears up chains, is this true or nothing to worry about?
its on a 954 so would be going down to a 14t

14 should be fine. the smaller the front sprocket the more the chain has to curl to match the smaller diameter. it puts a little stress but some ppl go as low as 13 without any problems. I dont know about 954's specifically but my is if thats what you want then go for it

why not just go up in the back? You will probably be fine, but why put the added stress on the tranny, motor mounts, chain, sprockets... if you don't need to?

Yup. You should go Up teeth in the back. Also gives your a more defined feel. The difference between +5 and +6 isnt much. The difference between -1 and -3 is HUGE.

I ran a 14 t on a gsxr600 which is -2 and rode the **** out of it no problems. Im sure it accelerates the wear and tear but so does throwing your bike around dropping it while stunting, I say go for it it will be the of you worries once you bend the subframe!
