wobble wheelies

every 3 out of ten standups, cruising at ~70mph, after a little while will start wobbling side to side. Any idea what causes this or what can be done to correct this? rear tire pres. at about 27psi. standing split, one foot front one back. Happens after maybe 1/4 mile.

Happend to me the other day ,i was riding a 45 mph wheelie and it started swaying side to side so i tryed to put it down and got in a nasty tank slapper , lucky i got it back and didnt eat ****.

Re: wobble wheelies

your not being smoothe on the throttle, A choppy throttle will cause you to wobble on the rear wheel. U can usually correct it by bringing it just below the balance point and back up again. Be smoothe on the gas or it can get ugly.

Re: wobble wheelies

if you bring it back a little further it will quit, also if you dip the nose. your right at the balance point the weight of the bike is unstable.

Re: wobble wheelies

hes right bout the throttle. if it is a top wobble its throttle control, if its coming from the bottom your not high enough.

Re: wobble wheelies

Tire wear is pretty even. as for not high enough, Does that mean I have to go past the bp a little? Cause it happens after I get it balanced and cruising it. I can't tell about the smooth throttle, I'll pay more attention to that tonight, but it feels smooth gettin it up there.

If your just at the balance point and kind of bliping the throttle every few seconds to keep it there you are gaining rpm's and getting close to rapping out in that gear. That's why you start to get wobbley arount the 1/4 mile mark. If you go back a little too far and tap the rear break it straitens it out. Pretty much your not really in the sweet spot. Once you are able to do that and actually slo the wheelie down and keep it out of like 10 thousand plus rpm's your wheelies will start to seem never ending and the only reason you put it down is cuz your arms are too tired from keeping it up.

I was riding earlier and trried that, I would go back pretty far and then just let off a little bit and it would stay cruisin at about 65 and didn't wobble. Then I tried that blipping the throttle and it would wobble a lil bit. I guess I'll keep trying to go back far and then let off or hit the brake.
