Riding Switchback - Horror story

So the past few days ive been attempting to ride switchback pulled it off about 3 times for a very short distance. Then last night i did one and rode that way for about 2 blocks. So of course i was pumped, rode for awhile longer that night and decided i wanted to try it one more time befor i got back to my apartment (bout 5 blocks away). Got into position turned around all was well... then the bike started drifting right towards the curb. I turned back around and grabbed onto the left clipon and started leaning way off the bike trying to correct it... Damn thing didnt even hesitate in that direction. I accepted the fact i was goin to crash. But then i noticed where i was headed and that was directly towards a 35 MPH speed limit sign needless to say the bike got the better of the damage this time.

I got wrapped around the post at about 35 MPH and the bike went about another 20 ft befor stopping. First thing i thought after getting to a knee was broken ribs. Some guys stopped and one rode my bike back to the apartment. They wanted me to go to the hospital but im stubborn and refused. After pissin blood for the first time in my life i decided it was time.

Damage:
Bruised ribs and bruised right kidney and some pretty deep road rash on my right arm.

Bike damage:
Broken frame slider snapped that clean off, and scratched plastics also a bent front rotor. Bike faired surprisingly well

So whats the count? Body took more damage then the bike this time.
Bike: 1

Re: Riding Switchback - Horror story

I don't understand why you'd try a stunt like that on a public road..

Re: Riding Switchback - Horror story

i don't ever try and steer my switchbacks(handstands, coffins, etc.) . There are guys that do it but i don't even touch the bars when i do it. It's too easy to mess up (as you know now). Just kick it in neutral and do whatever you want. When the bike starts slowing down, just turn back around. lol It's funny you brought this up. Kane, Keeth, John, and myself were just talking about this 2 hrs ago.

because we've been kicked outa every available lot around

And there isnt a lot big enough around here to do that sorta trick without runnin outa room.

I wasnt trying to actually steer the switchback till it started goin wrong and i had no other choice.

I wont be doin that sorta trick on the street any time soon thats for sure i fear all road signs now... them ****'s have no give and cause lots of pain.

dude atleast it wasnt a car!!switch is a stunt that must be carefully planned and make sure you have enough speed and time to do it!!i learned on the roads to,but the pot holes and dousche bags are what you need to look out for mad props for pulling it off alot of people wont even try it!!i only fell once i got going to slow and the bike went left to right out of control tried to turn around and ate **** about 20 + mph so just wear your lid!!!!!peace............

Re: Riding Switchback - Horror story

Glad yer okay.. Switchback was next on my list.... and that was my idea too on how to fix it if it went wrong.... swing around and lean on the clipon.. I think I'll put some more thought into it now... Get better!
