Strengthening 929 Subframes

Strengthening 929 Subframes
I rolled over an endo the other day really slow and when I went over the bike fell sideways instead of following me over and it slammed really hard on the left rear peg and snapped it. In the process it bent my subframe pretty good. My buddy and I bent it back pretty straight, but I still want some good life out of it. What are some goods tips on strengthening the 929 subframes?
I was going to tig weld stabilizer bars from the left side to the right side.. kind of like the existing piece that sits right in front of the taillight where the rear seat latch assembly is.. I was going to cut like 3 more round bars and weld them. But what else can I do, b/c that will only help the twisting and side to side?

Re: Strengthening 929 Subframes
yep, when I was fixing crash damage from 954 I noticed that rear subframe is very good material, but the sides are not connected to each other that good, there is only one bar under the battery and couple on top, So if you hit the other side the other one is not supporting it.
I crashed similar way and the rear peg snapped, but the subframe hold up. It bent a little. I think you could build connection from flat steel between the rear peg mounts, that would divide the forces to both sides. I'm going to do that when I find some time...

Re: Strengthening 929 Subframes
i reinforced mine with 1/4" aluminum. I braced it up all along the sides and added cross braces as well. In addition to that, I added a brace(1/4" steel x 1"wide) on each side that goes from the rear pegs to where the swingarm connects to the frame(it's hollow). Use a piece of all thread rod to go from one side to the other. This brace helps out a lot!!!

Welds may be ugly but they're strong-im not much on looks-The welder I use is an older guy--been welding for over 70 years...none of his welds have ever broken on me.
