Great post Kane!
The thing with sports like this is that while there might be heaps of peeps with the an awesome amount on skill and talent, it's their attitude that sets them apart at the end of the day. Keep going until you reach the top... then keep on goin!

nice post buddy! those were some inspiring words. I totally know how you feel about losing belongings and whatnot. I first lost my girlfriend which was 100% unrelated to motorcycles...she just wanted to go be a sorority *****. With those bad memories in my town I decided to travel alot and push the sport because it was the only thing that made me forget...and chicks dig wheelies.
Kane opened his doors to me as did many other people around the country. I spent lots of time on the road, only returning home monthly to pay bills etc. This sport means alot to me and helped me through some really hard times. Sometimes I want to give up and resume fabricating 24/7 and just ride for fun, but then you read something like this and it allows you to push the bad aside.
I recall a time in when I was going to school, making $6k a month fabricating, had 5 motorcycles, 2 rock crawlers, a couple of sick trucks to drive around.
Since then I'm down to 1 motorcycle, and 1 rockcrawler hahahhahahah I estimate I've spent over $125k in the past 2 years. hahahahahhaha
So today is a new day...I'm getting a super duty...and I might get a new bike in a few days since things are looking up at the time. Gotta love the game!

hahah I want an 04 gix 600 but I think I'm snagging another 636 for cheap so I can have a clean stunt bike again. that way I can save the hammered one for the garenteed crashing tricks

Great post.
Im not very active in here but reading this post made want to speek out.
The reason that stunting is so attractive to the people that surround you is the fact that the riders are the mechanics painters salesman and so on. you dont seem to be untouchable, people can approach you and talk to you. the sport hasnt come to the point that people sit back and say i wish that was me, its still at the point where they say that can be me its real its not a fantacy that you see on mtv cribs where 16 year old snow boarders have their own houses 3 cars and a maid. you stunters are true, you arent your sponcers.
kane the way that you wrote this post sit back in your chair and take a good long look at all the replys you are the tony hawk you have made it the mony will come but as you said the fans are priceless.
GO HARD OR GO HOME.................keep it up :YEAH

Re: Some of the things I've learned this year... random
what a crazy expierience it's been.
in the last year ive lost a lot of possessions.
had 90% of my belongins destroyed, promises broken, hopes crushed, and friends gained and lost.
for the most part i honestly dont even talk to the same circle of people.. its weird.
also racked up a few credit cards and spent lots... of money.
BUT...
ive learned soo much.
Im still learning more and more everyday.
Its been amazing.
the Game.. the industry... business..
Sponsorships... riding ability... trust.
when you dont know anything u assume sponsored means rich..
its funny.. posters, videos, sponsors, product, 50,000+ screaming spectator stunt shows...
none of that means rich.. well not monitarily.. it does mean rich in heart.
and yet I get phone calls randomly of friends from years past..
"Hey bro... i saw you on a magazine... you must be RICH.. what you driving now a ferrari?"
HAHAHAHAHA yea RIGHT! im lucky to have a place to sleep!! haha
Ive been alll over this country.. 3x!!! this year!! have been viewed by WELL OVER 1.8 MILLION spectators in the last 3 years combined.. not including print.
If i could only have 1 dollar per person!! haha...
instead I find myself fighting, with cheap promoters wanting everything for free... their sales pitches are always the same.. doing this show for cheap... the publicity is priceless..
HA!
When I say STUNT PIMP what comes to mind?
most would think talented riders..
me...
I think of something different.. people who pimp out talented life risking motorcyclists for little to nothing... with promises of video apperances, and glory... I love this sport!!
success isnt easy.. success means work...
the work is still only just begining.
The easiest part of this sport is the riding...
in the last year, ive become a graphic design artist, web designer, accountant, sales manager, sales rep, promoter, stunt team coordinator, mechanic, character designer, painter, vynl layer, performer, annoucer, agent, photographer, videographer, video editor, Pro judge, and thats just a few i can name off the top of my head...
I love this sport.
Ill never give up
I do my best to represent myself truthfully to myself, to attend to the riding as often as i can and stay true to the CORE. I try to be the most proffessional rider/businessman that i can, and represent my sponsors as best i can.
this sport is crazy though man..
being tugged pulled and twisted in soo many different directions.
everyone wants something different from it, and for it.
everyone is willing to do something different..
it really is soo amazing to watch the intracacies of it all from all the different points of views...
ive seen this sport grow from meetings at bike nights on las vegas city streets when i started in early 1999.
when the most impressive and techincal trick a rider could perform would be a nac nac 4th gear 110mph power wheelie, or a switchback done right...
today the advancement and technicallity of the sport has grown to such a level that.. it truly is awe inspiring..
STYLE... that to me is more impressive than any singular trick.. STYLE
so many top riders... have come... gone.. and passed...
names forgotten that were sooo influential in pushing this sport to another level.
i often wonder that if and when it goes big (Ie: mainstream, Xgames, walking into walmart and seeing darius toys!!) who will go? how will it be designed? who will get the credit...
who will be the tony hawks, who will be the mad mikes and whos gonna be the haydens?
i love this stuff man..
cant wait for the future...
-kane
looking back... it must feel pretty good huh?

good post there is soooo much on the backside that people don't always get , tons of work. but it is growing and getting bigger, in due time. hell you can't have a respectable bike event without stuntriders these days!!!!!
but I do have to disagree with you buddy. you are rich, rich cause you are doing what you love and making a living, maybe not a pro quarterback living, but professional streetbike athletes do get to have more fun, and we don't got to worry about 400 pound defensive players CRUSHING us, instead we gotta worry about 400 pound bikes getting defensive and crushing us.
