954 won't start in 1st gear?????

I can fire her up in nuetral all day, but if I stall her or start in 1st gear she won't . It really sucks, I've been practicing donuts, and everytime I drop it, I need to bump start it in 1st to fire, any help would be great.

Did u check to make sure the wires are in good cond and attached at the clutch lever and I think the starter. I believe they tell the starter the clutch is in and o.k. to crank.

man that happened to me, in a wheelie once, the switch worked it's way loose and the first time cut the engine in a wheelie, i thought my motor blew. it would run fine on two wheeles but the force of bringing it up after that would disengauge it and kill the motor every time, took me hours of searching to figure out something sooo simple
