Re: mx bars vs. clip ons

i have clip ons on both my bikes (r1 and yzf600), but i do open them for comps and practice.

a quick question.....has anyone ever run from the cops with mx bars? it seems to me it'd be harder.

Re: mx bars vs. clip ons

I have my clipon's as far in as possible (without loosing lock to lock turning) Never seemed to cause me any problems and my arms dont seem to get fatigued. But then again my wheelies are just starting to get to the point where im up on one for a long distance. Ill definatly try straightening them way out and see how i like it. Never really thought about doing it till Nick said something.

novaman... straighten them out and im sure youll be more comfortable... most people are but its all in preferance... as for runnin from the cops could be harder if its a twisty *** road but highway should be the same

I have almost identical bikes, one with each, and I like both.

well that settles it

I've never ridden a street bike with dirt bars, but i'm not very comfortable on dirtbikes, and i'm so used to clip ons. My friend has the same bike as me, and he turned his clips ons out, I putted it down the street, didn't notice much of a difference...though I didn't wheelie it either.

Re: mx bars vs. clip ons

Every time i hop on my buddies 4-wheeler that he put new bars on i feel like im stretched so far out. He even shortened his... So if MX bars are anything like the bars on his 4-wheeler im sure i wouldnt like them one bit.

Re: mx bars vs. clip ons

I run my stock clipons flipped over and to opposite sides. Feels like dirtbike bars. Nice and flat. Gives alot more room but not real high like Dirtbike bars. They also don't interfere with the upper fairing. Kinda hard to see here but you should get the idea.

Try turning them out. If you like that go with it. If you want to try to flip them, give it a shot. It only takes a few minutes to do it and see how it feels. If you don't like it switch it back.

No other pics right now. But you've got the idea on what to do. Works great on my 636, not sure how it will turn out on others.

Re: mx bars vs. clip ons

i think MX bars open up the possibility of more tricks, easier to move and jump around on the bike, BUT i think they look GAY AS **** !!!!!!

I want people that watch me to say, DAMN, he's doing that on a bike that is identical to mine. They can't see the handbrake, and if you have a -5 and a stock rear, then your gearing looks stock. See the difference, there is no disguising big MX bars and the missing front Fairing. Brings up another point, stunt riding looks SOOOO much better on a full fairing bike, one that looks like the one your fans are riding!!!
