How do you transport your stunt bike?

So I live in the beautifully cold state of MN, and winter is almost over...hopefully...

Last season, I would ride my bike to a spot and trick around. Luckily, I never dropped it or had anything go wrong...until the last night of riding and my headlight went out, which was a *****...AND my buddy's clutch fried. So I never wanna be stuck at a spot again.

Anyways, what are you all running for transportation? A trailer is out of the question for me since I have no place to put it...just enough room in my little garage for three bikes and a car...another plus would be for all wheel or 4wheel drive, since I'd drive it in the winter...i store the wrx in the winter, or at least plan on it. So whadya all got? I'm curious as to which little trucks and vans can accomodate a sportbike...gimme some ideas...and for what it's worth, my stunter is a street fightered R6...only reason i mention that is because it's a pretty tight squeeze in an astro van with an upper fairing mounted...

Re: How do you transport your stunt bike?

well, thanks for the reply, but I'd like to know what people are using...I'll most likely get an Astro van or a truck, but some trucks have short beds, and some other minivans could work, I don't know, that's why I posted. Unfortunately, riding a bike in MN in the winter is not possible. Plus, I really want to be able to take trips with the bike in the winters here to warmer locales...therefore a transport is needed. Also, I want to be able to trick around at a spot without the fear of not getting home if I wreck it beyond the point of drivabilty....what minivans will fit a bike without an upper and will all smaller trucks handle a bike? thanks.

idk i think you are gonna have to make a few sacrafices. For example. I put a hitch on my s4. yes a hitch on my s4 . I know u don't want a trailer, so just get a pickup. I think a sportbike is like 7 feet long so just get a pickup and if u have to ride with the tailgate down so be it.

I have a small chevy truck, The tailgate won't close but the bike will fit in with the tailgate down, I aslo know a few guys that will just load their bike and then slide the back end over to the corner and then shut the tailgate.

Re: How do you transport your stunt bike?

good point on the pickup...tailgate down works...I was thinking too hard and was wondering if a small truck, like an old dakota or toyota, would have a long enough bed...but with the gate down, duh...

Anywho, someone out there has to be rocking vans to transport their ****. I ride with a couple dudes who roll in the Astro van. Are any other minivans tall enough to fit a bike?

Re: How do you transport your stunt bike?

the other nice thing about those little vans is that the deck height is really low...a big full size truck and loading/unloading by yourself can get tricky

Re: How do you transport your stunt bike?

i loaded my f2 into the back of an extended cab s-10 once with the help of another guy and no ramp. Couldnt close the tailgate and he had a **** load of junk in the back of his truck at the time. But tie-downs takes care of any size issues as long as you make sure its held in good and tight.

Mini van's are badass though because you can do burnouts inside of it and get the sweet clam bake affect like on cheech and chong. Not to mention the lower deck height is always a plus as well.

Once loaded my bike into the back of a older f150 that was way the hell off the ground, we had ramps that time but still made it pretty tricky with two guys because that thing was easily 3ft off the ground to the tail gate.

Id go with the mini van myself . But if your goin to get a truck then make sure its a smaller truck that isnt way off the ground cause its not fun balancing your bike with your arms above your head hopin that it doesnt tip. I wouldnt worry to much about box size just make sure you got those ratcheting tie downs.

'99 Dodge Dakota w/ Xtd Cab. Fits two bikes nicely and the tailgate closes!

That thing has been EVERYWHERE! just turned 150,000 miles. FL 3X's, Ohio twice, Long island, Maine and more that i can't remember now.

I even slept in it at Starboyz Stuntfest '02, lol.

Re: How do you transport your stunt bike?

I owned a 1988 F-150 that I picked up for 500 dollars. The rear end was pretty high and when I forgot a ramp I just backed up to a hill and rolled the bike out the back. You could fit 2 bikes in the back no problem with the tailgate up.
