Stolen bike

My boy Jake got his bike stolen Saturday night at Vito's in downtown Seattle. It was a black and silver '04 gsx-r 1000. He has no insurance on it so he's out whatever he owes on the bike. He went into the club with 4 other riders out of my crew and came out later and it was gone. I feel sorry for him paying on a bike he doesn't have. I'm thinking about getting a disc lock now after this happened to him. Anybody else got similar stories of this happening to them or a friend?

Re: Stolen bike

or maybe just lock the handle bars?

Sux to hear about your friends bike though, i have nightmares about my bike gettin stolen (very small crime rate around here so really no need to worry for me). The biggest thing i fear is commin out from a public place to see my bike tipped over or something gay heh. Wont worry if it has a cage though **** ill park it on its side for all i care. haha

Re: Stolen bike

I live in an apartment complex that is NOTORIOUS for having bikes stolen out of it. I think like 6 or 7 got stolen last year (and to think, we pay like a f.cking grand for rent and a security gate.. ) and everything was quiet until about a month ago when someone walked off with a 2003 Cobra that was around like 600 HP. Bullshit, absolute and total. I can't stand thieves. We have to pay 75 extra a month now for a damn garage because otherwise my roomie's CBR might just 'get up and walk off'..

Re: Stolen bike

I've always parked my bike in well lit areas at night but it still makes me nervous that my bike might get stolen. My crew is well known throughout Seattle and the club where my friend's bike was stolen was a frequent spot we would go to. And Nova Man he did lock his handle bars and they still stole it. I hate thieves and everything they stand for. Just can't work for a living and buy their own **** instead of taking other people's stuff. Now my boy has got no bike and I know he's pissed because that means no stunting for him.

Re: Stolen bike

A disk lock, man what the hell is that going to do. Even that big *** busa will end up in the back of a truck if someone wants it. i mean at 700lbs it might take 3 guys instead of 2 but its still gone. Keep em in you living room or keep em crunchy otherwise some loser is probably figuring out how to take your bike right now.

Re: Stolen bike

ah bummer, i have heard the bar locks are pretty easy to bust loose thats the ***** man. And this is one reason im thankful for living in a "hick town" in the middle of a state noone really even knows about haha. I leave my helmet on my bike at the mall with no worries really with my bars unlocked.

But ppl are right even with a disk lock if they want your bike bad enough and have enough people there goin to get it.

those bar locks are very east to break....all you have to do is kick the fornt tire hard enough and it breaks the part of the frame that locks it. my buddie worked at a bike shop and they dealt with a lot of insurance recovered bikes. you wouldn't believe the horror stories he told me about how easy it was to steal a bike!! they're never safe if they're out in the open.

Re: Stolen bike

Keep em in a garage or get insurance on it especially if its a nice bike. Heck liability will cover theft and it aint very much. If I was your boy I would go get insurance and wait a week or two or a month and then claim it stolen. Bam there goes your problem and you get the payoff of the bike.

Peace Justin

^^^^^
what he said. And if I were him I'd stop telling people and getting the word out about it being stolen, the insurance and popo will get wind and then he'll be facing insurance fraud, the longer the better. And don't just put theft on there, do fire and collision and liability and everything so it won't look nearly as suspisious when he makes the claim.

I had a beat up stunt bike stolen out of my buddies garage. I owed $5000 on it and insurance gave me $6700.
Moral is, if someone wants it they are going to get it. If you owe money on it have insurance.

That sux bro.... Seattle is notorius for bike thefts my buddies R6 was stolen last summer.. Long story short one of my friends, friends brother is the guy who stole it.... He was spotted on it at my friends house when confronted about it being my boys bike he took off... ( The thief didn't know that I was good friends with the owner of the R6 and had told my other friend about it)
Guy ends up outrunning 4 to 7 city cops and I counted 4 state patrols.... Ends up in U-district in parking garage thief calls friend and we recovered bike......

Re: Stolen bike

I live on campus at UNLV...last semester we had 4 kids all together with bikes...since then all 3 of the other kids got stolen...I'm the only one left. I tried to park my bike at a bike rack to chain it up with a Kryptonyte lock but I got a $50 ticket from the school and then a citation from the UNLV police I have to go to court for. They're pretty much tellin' me tough sh*t, I have to park in a motorcycle parking spot and good luck...

Re: Stolen bike

The honda dealership I bought my bike from got robbed last summer. I heard someone forgot to lock the back door, and all the sportbikes (and probably anything else stealable) got taken. $hitty way to lose your job, forgetting to lock up when you leave
