How many times in your life have you seen something that amazed you so much that you told yourself, "I want to do that." Inspired for that brief moment to become unique. To differentiate yourself from others. To test the limits on what you and your body could do. There’s a myriad of instances in which we are overtaken by this feeling, and often it occurs while watching a movie. An action sequence with a breath-taking car chase. That kung fu movie with the amazing choreographed fight. But how many of us follow through with it?
Some actually do, and Staff Sgt. David Caero was one of them. Caero, 27, a troop handler for AMS-1, and a proud husband and father of two children, was inspired by a video he saw of the well-known Starboyz (an Ohio-based stunt group). "Pretty much from that point I told myself ‘That’s what I want to do, I want to be able to do what they’re doing,’" Caero stated. And since then the obsession has not stopped. Shortly after, he purchased his first motorcycle and began to ride.
"I started becoming more serious last year," Caero continued. "Unfortunately, a lot of people have a negative outlook on it (stunt riding). They think that everybody that rides motorcycles…are careless and reckless. But the fact is that the people they see on the streets pulling wheelies are the ones that aren’t really trying to progress the sport, they’re just the people who got a new bike and just want to show off."
As most stare in amazement and awe, they begin to wonder why? Why put yourself in danger’s way? Why risk injury? "I’m not even going to say it’s the adrenaline rush, because that’s not it," Caero answered. "It’s just when you ride, nothing else exists. Whatever issues, problems, anything…going on, once you’re on that bike you tend to not worry about it, and it’s just enjoyment."

Re: If you Military beware....
I guess the big issue was my visor was not down.... and I mentioned I saw a starboyz video. They assumed I was affiliated with them and brought up the real TV episode they had and thought I was promoting wreckless behavior.
Then they heard about stuntlife and could not believe that there was a military forum with service members that stunt.
Oh well **** happens.
I was just trying to put a positive spin on what we do hopefully I still did it.
I ll take one for the team if I have too.

Re: If you are Military beware....
thats such BS... but the gov. will do that to you. by the way man, that link doesn't work. Its kind of like self incrimination... i wouldn't have admitted that to a military paper. I don't tell the military what i do in my free time. I have had a guy in our R&R shop weld up my subframe once though. Keep us posted on what happens.

yeah I knew something would come out of it but I didnt expect how big its gotten. Right now Im stationed on a Navy base and they are real lax on Regulations. But then they see this and all hell breaks loose.
But I do see the the whole self incrimination thing thats why I took my site down.

Re: If you are Military beware....
I just went to OIC's mast for the same thing, they got me for improper ankle protection and my visor being up, I received reduction in rank suspened for six months and I have to give a safety brief at our next safety stand down. He also wanted me to give proof that I have gone through some type of formal training to stunt ride

Damn man--Im in the Navy--and they used to give me **** when I got tickets on the streets-my Chief used to call me "reckless" every time he saw me-and they always treated me like crap and made examples out of me-but if you do it in a lot where its safe and wear your gear why not?
....Military members do all kinds of sports in their off time...skiing, dirtbikes, football, basketball...and NOBODY can tell me you NEVER get hurt doing these sports...you know as well as I do that there are all KINDS of crazy things in Mishap reports from simple sports blunders. I've been a mishap report too--its funny because every single person in your command see's these reports. You can get hurt just as easy as stuntin!! I'm going to keep stunting because I love it the most--until they pry my dead body off and away from my bike!

Re: If you are Military beware....
SOmetimes I try to joke about it--like once a supervisor of mine came into one of my spaces while I was watching a stunt vid--and he was like, damn!...YOU dont do stuff like THAT do you?? I was like "nooo! I'm an upstanding motorcycle rider and I obey all rules and regulations!" He rolled his eyes and said "yeah RIGHT" and we kind of shrugged it off.

I am an E-5 stationed at NAS Jax, I showed them my NSRA card but they treated it like a joke. The bad part is I got busted over a picture from the lakeland dragstrip wearing all my gear with an ambulance in the background
