Nah, I agree, told him it was his own fault! But to get an article 15 for it and now not qualify for special forces? I dunno...that is stupid to me!

Damn. In my opinion the military loses a lot of good people because of this kind of stuff. Is it people with control issues or is it high grade officers with control issues forcing mid grade officers and NCO's to be over controlling to save their own careers?? It's like a game of, "What can I bust this guy for?" On active duty I drove trucks in the Marines and they said by risking my civilian liscense or by losing my base driving priviledges I was looking for UCMJ action. Thing is I only had 6 points of the allowable 12 on base (2 speeding tickets) and my civilian drivers liscense still only had 2 of 8... They toyed with the idea of getting the Colonel to make me sell my bike. Fortunatly they were old school and did it the right way. No, not beating my ***... They just explained how I'd fail the team if I lost my license and told me not to ever get caught on base messing around, and that they'd hang me if I lost my license. But there's not one piece of paper saying the conversation took place. They told me the outcome and made it obvious that I was hurting more people than myself if I lost my license. I dont think the idea of me hurting/killing myself even came up. I wish things were handled like that more often in the military. Nowadays I see people trying to save their careers by frying their soldiers before they can get into trouble that will be big enough to get leaders into trouble... Am I rambling??
I guess I'm just saying that poeple get a raw deal and of all places in the world I'd think it would be the military that understood risk enough to understand some risks are worth the payoff...
Good article too, dunno how it made someone think of a visor being up..
