Can Katana Stoppie?

Has anyone suceeded in pulling a stoppie on a katana?
If so is it possible to do on Kenda Cruisers or do I need to buy new tires?
They came with the bike.

yeah i have a 97 600 and it will do it. I can roll them out for a few feet but nothing great. You need alot of speed. I apply the breaks at about 50mph. It gets squirrly sometime and have almost bit it a couple of times. Make sure your tires are really warm. so i dont do them all the time.

Yeah, that thing will stoppie. My friend has an 02 katana 600 and does it all the time. He frequently locked up the front on stock tires though but now he has some pirelli super corsa take offs I gave him and has no problem.

You have to squeeze really hard. And it helps to shift your weight forward the instant before hitting the break. Watch out for lockin up the front.

If it's an issue of the front tire skidding, then buy a grippy new sport tire for the front. Warm tires will also grip better than cold ones. If you're not riding it fast enough to warm up the front tire, drop the tire pressure-- especially in cold weather! You'd be amazed how little pressure you can ride with-- less than 10 psi. Watch out for wheelie landings and curbs, though, when your pressure is low.

If it's just an issue of weak brakes, make sure your fork seals are ok, then put some EBC HH Sintered high friction brake pads on it.

With a decent road surface, you'll be stoppieiing in no time.

Re: Can Katana Stoppie?

I have owned a Katana and it is possible. Practice on a BMX bike going slow so you get the timing down of shifting forward and sort of popping the back end up. I used that same method on the Kat but never really could roll with them. That had more to do with lack of talent than the bike though.

Re: Can Katana Stoppie?

True story. I was just chillin with a dude the other day who has a katana. He asked the same question. His is all stock. I siad let me give it try. Now I can roll stoppies but this bike refused to stoppie period. Even shifting my weight was pointless. My advise is dont waste your time bro.
