What do you do when you get hurt?

Just curious as to how many of you use chiropractors?

Myself and another riding buddy from KC are in school to get out Doctorate in Chriopractics (D.C.) and I wanted to see who went to get their wrists, back, and neck adjusted if they had pain from going down, rough landings, or torquing their bodies to do stunts.

I personally know I have to get my wrist adjusted after riding any style for an extended period of time, let me know what you do!

Re: What do you do when you get hurt?

I'm asking because I have an interest in this "sport/lifestyle/hobby...." after I can no longer participate in it, and would like to contribute to it after that point occurs. I would most likely give discounts to and maybe sponsor stunt teams..........possibly leading to a "stuntpark" or something like that.
Let me know what you think after you respond to the poll.

Re: What do you do when you get hurt?

I just started ging for my neck this past weekend. It seems that my trip down the highway caused a little damage that didn't show up until a couple months after the wreck. Then I kept putting it off thinking it would get better and hasn't. I go today for the 3rd time and it seems better when I leave so hopefully it will work out.

Hell No! Aren't they the palm readers of the medical world? most of them are scams and the ones that are not you have to go 3-5x a week to get the job done. Going to a chiropractor is not like getting a massage. It is a process that u must complete for it to have any effect. I am not putting my nerves in the hands of someone without an MD.

actually your body can heal itself, IF it is aligned and able to do so. If your body is in pain it is telling you something is wrong, medicine covers the symptoms to where you don't feel the pain, but it does not treat the cause of the problem. Thats why we spend 6-8 years in school learning the human body inside and out.

call around and find someone who will look at it and give you an idea about cost and time frame

I'm jumping into this field after having issues with football injuries, wrecks and so on, and realized that pain killers, even prescription pain killers are only temporary.

I was at school and in a hurry when I posted my last reply to this comment:

I want to straighten a few ideas out so that everyone understands things better.

1) A Doctorate of Chiropractics is a nationally recognized form of holistic(drugfree) medecine.

2) D.C.'s saved you over 30 million dollars in tax money by treating injured troops with chiropractic care instead of medecine, getting them active sooner.

3) Many companies would save tons of money on BS worker's comp. claims for back injuries if sent to a D.C. instead of being medicated for months until it gets better. You pay their expenses when they're hurt.

4) The education in a D.C. college is comparable to that one would recieve getting an M.D.- we just stop before medecine enters the picture.

5) A D.C. knows the human body better than YOU ever will, after all we have to dissect more than one human body while in school.

6) Ignorant people who state that D.C.'s are the palm readers of the doctor's rank, most likely have never been to a D.C. and therefore are not qualified to speak on this subject. I challenge you to go to an M.D. and ask if visiting a Chiroporactor would be a good idea for joint and muscle pain----you will be shocked to hear his answer!

Re: What do you do when you get hurt?

my back has been messed up since high school football... i used to see a chiropracter atleast 3 times a week and then for emergencies also... i think he said that the bone in the back of my neck popped out of place... the atlis is what i think he called it, it still gives me tons of problems.... especially since my several wrecks... pretty much from the back of my neck to my lower back is always in somekind of pain.... but im too lazy to get off of my *** and go see another dr.... i want to but in my free time id rather sit and relax or practice... so i havent gotten to see my dr in about 3 years... so my back is pretty bad.... so im not going to answer the question because i would say yes, but then that would make me a hypocrite. but i would like to see a chiropractor.

First of all Don't call me Ignorant. You asked an opinion and you didn't like the answer you got. That does not make me ignorant. I have had many discussions on this subject with doctors, 2 different D.C. assistants, a trained physical therapist and physical trainers. All with the same opinion. Like I said It's good in theory, but i wouldnt trust my hands in one. Good luck with your half'assed degree

Re: What do you do when you get hurt?

I've been in immense amounts of pain lately and have been tempted to go and have it checked out. Thought about the chiropractor and all that good stuff. Just haven't gone through with it yet. Most of that isn't covered under insurance.. and thats a lot of money to pay for it to "maybe" help... Just my opinion though

I looped a Bisquit eater and shifted my pelvis. Had to go to the chiropractor for like 2 months. Still hurts.

"halfassed" degree. Obviuously you are full of shyt. I have a tendency to over research thinbgs I'm intersted in, considering that my IQ was tested higher than 99% of people and that it tooks me a lot of time to decide where to go and what to do. I very easily could have gone the direction of an M.D. , or surgeon, or whatever I wanted. BUT after alot of research I deiscovered there is a place for medicine, but we have a tendency to over medicate for something that could be corrected, medicated a misplaced disc does nothing to cure the problem, but only makes you not feel the pain. Eventually left untreated you will need surgery to correct the problem. Add up surgery plus medication, then compare to the cost of D.C. care, and then compare the results, you would be more inclined to stear this way.

As to whether I was angree to your answer--NO, you cannot get angry at someone for making an uninformed answer, you can only try to correct their misbeliefs! There's no way an M.D. would ever discredit a D.C. unless they were completely ignorant and got their M.D. in Korea!

I have seen your frequent posts on another board, and imho you are no brighter than anyone else.
As far as med school....I KNOW what it takes to actually get in, and I really doubt someone who misspells so many words could pull it off.
Med students are an elite group. Don't kid yourself.

If ya can't cut med school, there is always DC school
