remote control killswitch?

Anybody ever riged one up, or tried to? I gunna try to hook one up before learning acrobatic stuff, because I don't want my bike to run into **** at 40mph . Any tips? What kind of range do the remote start devices have that go on on vehicles? How much do they cost?

Re: remote control killswitch?

ive thought of this before but never really did anything with it, i know that when i bail off my bike im not thinking of a kill switch i got other things on my mind at that time, so a thought that i had was to use a remote and acuator off a radio controlled airplane, first remove your kick stand switch and rig up the actuator so it holds the botton down and the bike will run but once your out of distance ofcourse the actuator will not work and the bike will cut out. this is just an idea and im not sure i would trust it myself i would hate to be doing a crist or somthing and have the bike shut off while in gear but what ever you figure out let us know im interested in somthing like this myself

Re: remote control killswitch?

The remote killswitch wouldn't be for me to hit. I would probably tape it to the video camera that's being used tape me.

Re: remote control killswitch?

It would be easy and most modern alarms have about 300 yards range, but there are some fm systems that can work up to 1.5 miles!

Re: remote control killswitch?

Am i missing something here or wouldnt one of those manual kill switches basically do the same thing? Ya know the ones with the cord that you hook onto a article of clothing or around your wrist or somethin. I see them used on some bikes in stunt vids.

Wouldnt this serve for the same type of purpose? if you fall off yer bike will shut off... or maybe im missing what you intend on using it for?

that would be a verry bad thing.......your going to be moving around on your bike doing stunts it would be verry easy to accidently kill the motor and you will crash but the good news is the bike will die out

Re: remote control killswitch?

just have a long enongh cord the coils back up and when your putting it on your bike set it up so it wont pull out by accident. i know plenty of people that run them without a problem

Re: remote control killswitch?

the only thing I can think of iwth a remote hookup that a freind hits would be that you'd really have to trust your freind. I know people that I'd never trust with something that important. If someone doesn't fully understand the reprocusions of hitting the switch when you're doing a christ or something, things are gonna get ugly.

just put it in neutral. if you fall off, it won't keep going (as far).
