getting a titleless bike titled?
me and a friend have a chance to get a bike that has no paperwork, or vin tag. I dont know the guy that is selling it so it might even be stollen but the deal is to good to pass up. how would I go about getting it titled and registered?

Re: getting a titleless bike titled?
Im not sure what exactly the whole story is but I do know that its been wrecked and there isnt a vin tag anymore cause the frame was polished. The guy who ownes it is in iraq so his friend is selling it for him, but he no longer has any paperwork on it. the thing is that the bike is almost back together and the only thing I would have to do is replace the rear rim and a rear set. he only wants $1500 for it so if it was possable I want to put it back on the street even if it was a salvaged title.

however easy that may sound... titles and frames go for about 1500+. Not so easy if you're broke. Do like I did, throw it in your truck... drive it to somewhere remote, and ride it there... 5-0 shows up... hope you're not geared too much and run. or just ride one private property with permission. All depends on what you NEED the bike for.

not to mention that if you get pulled over with your bikes on a trailer, some cops will check the vin's on the bikes to make sure they aren't stolen. They do that here all the time.
Unless u have a van to put it in LOL where the cops can't see it when you get pulled over, then I wouldn't suggest buying a bike with no vin's or vin's that are stolen.

If you have a bike already paint the bike in question, or fur it, the same color and just switch the plates as need. Most cops are dumbasses and only look at the plates. And if you did come across a cop that knows his makes and models of bikes you should be ok cause he's probably a rider too. trust me it works

One of my friends, went down to Florida for a stunt comp. Too make a long story short. He parked it outside while going inside somewhere, walked out and his bike was getting repoed from the cops. One reason only, no VIN # on his bike. It was not stolen or anything, just the part he bought didnt have the Vin # on it. He lost his bike.
I work for an auto auction, and not having a Vin #, or title or something simple, can get you in big trouble in many ways.
Dont even bother with things like that its not worth it!

the vin should still be stamped on the neck. if its that good of a deal you have 2 choices....buy it and keep it in the lots or buy it, pick up a used frame with a title and switch everything over. you can go online and look the vin up and see if its stolen, salvaged, or clean....
