xr80 forks?

hey guys just wondering what the setup is to run xr80 forks. My friend has tthem but i can never talk to him because he works out of state. Can you just buy a used set and run the same tripple or do you need to buy something special? If i remember correctly, you can just mount them using the xr80 tripples n shiznit. NE modifications that need to be made?

Re: xr80 forks?

Don't get any that are newer than 81' If your don't want to spend any money on them then make a spacer to go under the lower baring race. The only thing with doing that is the steering stops will no longer work, and your bars could rupture your tank. Then you have to grind your stock xr50 brake drum down to center the wheel. You need to do this to the wheel spacer too. You also need to grind the nub on the fork leg tat catches the brake down. Then you need to fabricate a brake cable bracket, and do the same for the front fender, or drill 2 new holes in the fender, and fasten the no. plate using a 3/8"x1/2" carriage bolt. I have designed a 6061 billet upper, and lower triple clamp that requires no modification to any of the 27mm honda forks. with my triples everything bolts right up. If your interested a set, pm me.
