I have a Dodge Ram with a shortbed and my bike fits in the back ... you just have to leave the tailgate down, the rear wheel of your bike will rest on the tailgate slightly ... Buy it, you won't be disappointed ...

I would never buy a doge unless it had a 318 or 360 with that kinda miles. $1,000.00 thats it

The new Chevy Colorado's that came out this year have an adjustable tailgate, you can close it halfway so that in this case when your back tire doesn't quite fit or when you're carrying lumber it won't have to hang over the edge of the tailgate. Prety cool feature, I'm probably getting one in either Feb or March, if you're not totaly stuck on Dodge you should think about checking them out, or ask the dealer if the Dodge tailgates also have adjustable tailgates this year, it may just be a new 04 thing.

Here's a little more info, I guess it is only GM though.

Colorado has the segment's only tailgate that is removable and lockable and can be set in two different positions, at 55 and 89 degrees.(1) Combined with standard two-tier loading(2) and eight tie-downs, this allows for extra versatility when carrying long loads or a lot of cargo.

Yeah but it looks like dude is in the final stages of closing the sdeal on that truck and he just wants to know if it would be possible to stuff the bike in.

Make sure you tie plenty of bungee cord on that bike though

I have a new 04 Ram they don't come with adjustable tail gates thats a chevy thing. Its hard as hell to load up the bike with 20's on it and yes you have to leave the tailgate down but hey it helps with gas mileage and believe me with the hemi motor you will need it.

Re: avrg. length of a bike to fit in truck?

yeah i def dont have alot of money though. thatd the only reason im looking at this truck cause with the high miles it makes it cheap. i only have about 2 grand to buy a truck with so thats why im considering this. if a bike doesnt fit in there i will just have to leave the gait down and tie the bitch up.

Re: avrg. length of a bike to fit in truck?

Any full size truck with a 8 foot bed fits a bike. The only small truck that fits a bike easily is a Dakota they have a 6.5 foot bed- all others are 6 foot (about 3 inches too short). If you have a short bed put the bike in the middle tie the front down straight then pick up and push the back tire about 1 foot to the left or right, now you can close the gate and tie the back down. Basically you can make it fit in any truck I would ditch the Dodge and go for a V6 S10, They last forever

Re: avrg. length of a bike to fit in truck?

My brother used to git the Gixxer 1000 in the 2002 Silverado, he'd turn the front wheel a little to the side and the latch would only be about 2 inches to closing. Too bad this ******* crackhead that works for us thought he knew everything about carrying bikes and dropped it over the side and hurt the poor bike
