lowering my gixxer

I have an 02 gixxer 600, I'm going to lower it to the 2nd hole on the lowering links, what effect will it have on the balance point, or doing wheelies period. I can wheelie in 1st and 2nd easy . When I get up in speed my front tire seems like its skimmimg the ground. I also do the track thing every now and then. Just in need of a few opinions before I get it done Wednseday.

if you plan on doing lots of wheelies, I definetley wouldn't lower it. And you DEFINETLEY don't want to lower it if you're going to be on the track. i have friends that have wrecked because of that

If you mean on the dragstrip it'll be great. For wheelies it's no good. You can do it but it makes it alot harder.

My wife's 600 is lowered. She says she can't feel a difference but she doesn't ride hard at all. I can feel a big difference in handling. Not to the point of where I think it is dangerous. It is just fine for the street but it would be a big disadvantage at the track. I feel like I have to force it to lean in a turn as where my 750 will just lay right over. You want it higher for the track.

I have to say that it looks really nice lowered. It gives it an aggressive drag look. I am not doing any crazy stunting or anything on it but it still wheelies fine but endos do seem harder.
Hope this helps!

Drag Racing

I have lowered my bike before about 2.5 inches, it really does kill the corners, you have to fight it to lean over and you really have to give it a lot of clutch to wheelie. If you want to drag race you don't have to lower it, I put down 10.80's on my F4i with just the front strapped. It really f*cks up the geometry.

dont do it!!! tons of complaints and no real benefits. Wheelies are lots different/harder (especially if you havent been doing em long) .... for the track it's shitty too. The only benefit would be for a dragstrip ...... but if you were a HARDCORE straight track racer, you wouldn't be on a 600, and you wouldn't be on STUNTlife. Keep it stock playa

I had my bike lowered for the dragstrip and the handling was all right just riding around, but if you push it it goes to ****. also if you lower the front by moving the fork tubes up you will loose travel and it will bottom out everytime you wheelie

Thanks for the input... I'll keep it stock. Just wanted to know what I was getting myself into. I only hit the track every blue moon...just for the hell of it. (not a true track guy)....just to have fun. But I love doing my wheelies, its about the only stunt I'm good at.

Ok This is one topic I love. I drag race my 600 and guys go out there with z12 1000 and all sorts of crap they take straps to hold down the front end. I wax there **** most of the time there are a few that walk all over me. If you know how to drive then you do not have to do that
