Fiberglass

Alright, i got anonther upper for my bike and i wanna glass it and put a foglight in there. But, ive never done fiberglass before. Bondo and bodywork im pretty familiar with so i figure ill probably get the hang of it after a bit. ive got some repairs i gotta make on other parts so i can use those to practice. So i need some basics, what to get, mixing, good places to go, whatever. any advice on lights to use is good too.

thanks

Ok go to Meijer or Pep boyz or some kind of auto parts/ hardware store. You are gonna want to get a container of liquid resin (bout a quart?) and a pack of the fiberglass mat and a pack of the fiberglass cloth. Remove the headlight. Prep the upper by using a drill and paint stripper wheel thing and go to town. Anywhere there is goin to be fiberglass (everywhere!) u need to strip off ALL paint. Clean up that **** get all the dust off. Cover the entire headlight lens in duct tape, and remount the light inside the upper. Use a paint brush and brush on the resin/hardner mix on the outside of the upper and over the duct tape, then immediately put the cloth over it and brush the mix on again on the outside of the cloth. Take your time and work out the air bubbles as much as possible before it dries. Once it dries trim the extra cloth from around the upper and then very carefully and slowly remove the headlight. The fiberglass will stick to the duct tape a little, but it won't bond to it. Now you have a minty lookin front then use the matt to fiberglass the inside. easiest to cut several pieces to do the inside with. any questions contact JACKASSRR aka curt he is the fiberglass wizard. Have fun gettin sticky!
