Dude, I unerstand what you're saying, and I agree that rubbing salt into a wound is unnecessary. But on the same note, there are people replying to this thread implying that guys who wear leathers, are pu$$ies, or can't ride. I go out without a jacket if Im cruising around, but if I'm going to be riding hard, then I'll put it on...simple as that. I ALWAYS wear a helmet and gloves. I think that the ones running their mouths about "gear *****" are the ones that probally don't have the sense to wear gear without something telling them that they should. I'd still be willing to bet that the majority of people that responded to this thread, and were bitching aboutother people telling them to wear gear are under the age of 21, which statistically are the sme age group most likely to get injured or killed on a bike. Ironic huh?

JAY-DUBB

Jay seems like you're making yourself look stupid considering this is stuntlife not twistielife?! I'm one of those people who bought a bike just to learn to stunt, so what's wrong with that? Exactly nothing, I always wear gear it's common sense, if I didn't doesn't mean I'm an @ss, life is a choice take that away and you are a ****.

oh no, not the attack of the 5mph wheelies....

safer than ****ing riding normally in traffic any day. i hate people like that.

i'm all about safety, but i don't think stunting is all more dangerous than football or anything. like anything it has it's risks. people just don't look at it right because there are a few dumbasses that are squids on a bike that kill themselves trying something they can't do and it ruins it for us.

do you let a 15 year old play football with the cowboys with no gear on? NOOOO. but if he did and got hurt i'd make football look bad.

Dude, You're missing the point. Just because someone has the right to make the decision not to wear gear, doesn't make it any less of a stupid decision. I'm not talking about the guy who wrecked without his jacket, I mean in general. The reference made about the twisty riding was only brought up because someone commented about the "R1 guys" being pu$$ies and wearing full leathers. My point was that all though wearing full leathers may not be entirely necessary 100% of the time, when your really pushing your bikes limits, the margin for error definitely lessens. I don't mind going down at 10 mph and coming up with a couple scrapes, but if I highside at 100 mph, I want as much gear on as possible. Most of the guys that spend the money on full leather racing suits do so for a reason. I see guys stunting in shorts, no helmets, sneakers. You say that those people know the risks that they're taking...well that makes them even more stupid because they know better. I'm sure that the guy who wrecked without his helmet will definitely wear one for now on (Iwish him a speedy recovery by the way), but it's a shame that everyone has that "it won't happen to me mentality", because most people won't learn anything from his mistake. Ask yourself this. If you had one of your closest family members decide to buy a bike to learn how to stunt, and they went out and bought a brand new gix 1000 having never ridden a bike before....what advise would you give them? Would you preach to them about the importance of wearing gear? Or would you tell them, well it's up to you if you wear it or not?

You're pussies anyway for playing footie with pads and a helmet!! Get a good game of rugby league down ya. Bit off topic, but it's vaguely related to gear.

I always where my gear, boots, helmet, gloves, and jacket. Don't really care if someone else doesn't wear theirs. They're adults, they made their decision, they have to face the consequences if they have a serious accident. But then all my mates ride with gear, maybe I'd feel different if it was one of my friends not kitted up properly.

i really feel what battlehatch is saying. I dont like the ***** either.. and on a side note, i think stuntin is a lot is alot safer than draggin your knee on subdivision roads or even the small 2 laners.. save that **** for the track. I have lost my bike in gravel, road kill, and gotten really spooked by the occasional dog running in the street. Just everyone be smart wear a lid, everything after that is up to you.
Chris
ps never rag on a dude with a busted *** bike.. that feelin sucks.. its bad enough he has to see you ride around while he's at the store pickin up MORE zipties.

Sorry, don't know her, but NZ is a pretty tiny place so you never know who'll bump into. Only 3.5 million people here.

I must agree I think you should always wear a helmet, but we're all big boys/girls here and if you f'*k yourself up that's your problem

I think the main reason you hear or see these safety ****'s is because they want you to be SAFE... gear helps you when you're always pushing the bike's limits and protects you when you drop the bike. I for one am all about safety. I understand the risks of riding and stunting, but don't plan on putting myself in the hospital frequently.

Someone posted awhile back about life being too short... well if you go riding with your friends tomorrow and they pull up wheelies on the highway, get hit head on by a car, and you find yourself at their funeral... you may be singing a different tune about that comment...

I enjoy all aspects of this sport: racing, stunting, etc... but putting your own life or someone else's in jeopardy is a pretty big risk to take. Happy stunting...

Oh shiieeeet! What next? Should we argue abortion and religion?

I wear gear, I have some friends that don't. I'm not an idiot.

I hope that clears it up for everybody.
