i think you have too much money, other than that from what i've read, you'll probably starve the cylinders from oil and blow motors. but then again if you have money to thrown down a duc, you can probably afford an engine or two.

I think Ducs are great bikes for the track or just regular sport riding. However, i've only heard about troubles with ducs when they are stunted. There are problems with the motors and oil when they are stunted. Also, in the unlucky event that you would go down somehow, parts are going to be expensive....but hey dont let anybody tell you how to ride. Ride how you want, thats what makes our sport great. Whatever you do, good luck...keep the rubber side down...lata

Do not stunt a duc, it's possible yes but ducs are track bikes. I had a buddy w/ a 749 who couldn't get it up in second at all(handle bars are way low) although I can get the SV650S up in 3rd. Anyways he would stand it up in 1st and shift to 3rd almost straight up doing 80mpg. Then one time the throttle stuck open and he dropped a foot and the thing body slammed him to the pavement and pushed him 200 yards or more.

I have to disagree with the fact that the 748s are "weak" their powerband's better than the 996 which is THE trackbike of them all, where the 996 has more power in the upper rpms the [b]DUCATI [\b] 748 smokes on corners and off lights

Absolute poo machines. If someone gave me one I would light it on fire, burn it, then I would turn it in for the insurance money. I would buy a new gsxr and put the rest of them money into my pocket. Then you know what? there would be one less of those euro trash poo machines on the road. death to the duc.

748's are week! Every 600 on the market smokes them. I bought a 748 in June of 97 (1st year) by july it was in the shop with a blown motor at only 1500 miles. They are easy to wheelie but puke oil out the mufflers -Oh and did I Mention THEY SUCK!!! Seriously go buy a honda they are hands down the best quality bike- maybe not the fastest but It will not break down. And you'll save yourself a bunch of money
