Rear brake FTMFW if it's icy or snowy or gravel.
I also used to like to hit the rear brake coming into sharp corners on my old 636 to give me that non slipper clutch feeling of the tire getting squirly.
On my f4i I use the rear every time I stop because that's the only way the brake light lights up.

Re: rear brakeare you kidding!!!!!!!!!!
yeah mostly all rear brake in slippery conditions (water/gravel/ice/whatever)
always rear brake in the lot
but for just slowing down, so I don't murder my rear brake, I ALWAYS use my front brake on the street... Just to save life on my rear pads
