Metal Helmet Spikes

Guys...those metal spikes that some riders mount on their helmets, where can i get them and does anybody know how they attach? I went to hot topic last night and found some. They attach by screw's that come with them, you must drill through whatever you're mounting it on then screw the spikes onto the screws. Theres no way I would ever drill through my helmet or any helmet to fit them; would destroy the integrity of it to take an impact on the first rotation of the drill. So i just thought there were other spikes out there made just for helmets that attach a different way? Does anybody know anything about them...thanks fellas

Re: Metal Helmet Spikes

Just cut the studs off or the threaded part and super glue the spike in place, or you could use a small bit of plastic weld to hold them down firmly to your lid.
Good choice not to drill through a perfectly good helmet and destroy it's integrity.

Re: Metal Helmet Spikes

thanks for the reply dude...yeah im thinkin about using some JB weld to attach them on there. I think i'll try it on one of my old helmets first, see how strong they are held on to the helmet and how much force they will take before they collaspe, thanks again bro.

Re: Metal Helmet Spikes

Try the plastic weld or something very similar to that, usually it's suitable to bond with metal also and it will dry clear or slightly hazy. The JB weld will not apply with as thin of a layer and will dry with a dark color .
The plastic weld will be more than strong enough :YEAH .

Re: Metal Helmet Spikes

I have a Studded Mohawk on my 50 helmet.. I drilled through it though.. Looks sweet, but I didnt care about the drilling because its just for 50 stuntin and its one of those brain buckets I got for 20 bucks.. I would say not to drill into a good helmet, it will lose strength.. If you go with the smaler studs, they will glue on no problem, but the bigger ones are pretty heavy. I know my buddy said his fell off.. Just an FYI..

They do look sweet though..

Re: Metal Helmet Spikes

glad i could inspire you dude...haha How does the super glue hold up, do you think it will hold up to something knocking into. Cuz i just dont know how hard they will hold at a high rate of speed? Dont wanna throw some chemical on my helmet and a week later not have them stick...keep me posted.

In the meantime im gonna try some epoxy gel on one of my old helmets to test it out

Re: Metal Helmet Spikes

so far so good on the superglue... you definitly dont have to worry about them falling off at top speeds. however bumping into sh*t you might have a problem, although i havent yet......
