MAINE-LY ACTION SPORTS TO HEADLINE NORTHEAST FREESTYLE STREETBIKE CHAMPIONSHIPS
OXFORD – Maine-ly Action Sports of Oxford, ME has agreed to become the title sponsor of the first annual Northeast Freestyle Streetbike Championships held at Oxford Plains Speedway Saturday, September 18.
Freestyle Streetbike is a rapidly growing sport that features riders performing stunts on full-size, high performance motorcycles. Many stunts involve riders performing acrobatics while riding solely on the front or back tire.
The competition, the first of its kind in New England, will feature top stunt riders from around the country. The action packed six-event schedule will include Freestyle Individual, Freestyle Team, Sick Trick, Freestyle Stoppie, Wheelie Race and Burnout competition.
“The involvement of Maine-ly Action Sports will bring this show to a new level,” said event organizer Mark Turcotte. “Their commitment to local motorsports and Oxford Plains Speedway is second to none.”
2003 X-treme Sport Bike Association (XSBA) champion “Crazy” Dan Jackson (KS) and runner-up Chris “Teach” McNeil (NH) highlight an impressive list of entries vying for over $5,800 in prize money. The show will be hosted by Maine’s own seven-man stunt team, the Vertical Outlaws.
A family owned and operated business since 1984, Maine-ly Action Sports offers a full line of Suzuki, Victory and Polaris powersports vehicles and accessories. The store underwent a makeover recently with a newly expanded showroom and outdoor display area. Their factory trained technicians service all makes and models.
“We’re thrilled to be part of this show,” said Maine-ly owner Jim Bowden, whose store will also present the July 17 race night at OPS featuring the ACT Dodge Tour 100 on the eve of the prestigious Banknorth 250. “Freestyle Streetbike is a sport that must be seen to be believed and we’re excited to have such an event so close to home.”
Oxford Plains Speedway is a 3/8 mile race track located in Oxford, ME that features weekly stock car racing and special events including ISMA Supermodifieds, Freestyle Motocross and WWE & Dodge Monster Trucks.
