exhaust question

i got a supertrapp exhaust, an old setup with the rings and the end cap, but i took the rings and cap off just to see what it would sound like and if i got any power gain from it

so im wondering iis it dangerous to keep it all off, i know its probably not safe in the woods or whatever with no spark arrestor but im talkin about will it hurt my quad

thanks in advance

My buddy has the setup from Alba...same sorta deal....It says you can run without the discs.

Re: exhaust question

It won't hurt it usually, but eventually it could I guess. If the discs are the only silencing the muffler has, and it has no packing, then when you shut the quad off, cold air could come into the engine through the exhaust pipe and burn a valve. This probably won't be a problem until the freezing winters if you ride in the winter, because I'm sure the exhaust pipe retains enough heat after shut-off to warm the incoming air enough so it won't hurt anything. What happens to the valve is similar to what happens if you put a very hot glass under cold water, and it shatters. You should be safe more than likely though.

That was a little too long post for a yes or no answer.

Re: exhaust question

The only thing you need to make sure and do is maybe fatten your main jet up a little since you are increasing air-flow by removing the discs.
