You should have the idle turned up enough to make the quad go 10mph on all 4 tires in first gear without touching the throttle.

Then turn your idle down. You do know how to do this right?

Sorry... I mis-read your last post.

YES, turn up your idle so that you can do at least 10mph with your hands off the controls. Keep in mind you're on an EX and even the great Josh Lanphear has trouble doing no-handers on an EX.

I think it depends on the quad. As anybody knows, there aren't really any 2 used quads that are the same...even if they are the same model, year, same mods, everything...they will still be different.

Between the way the carb acts on mine, and the way the back brakes work (or "don't" work I should say), no handers are not very doable.

I think I could safely say that I would offer anyone that could go further than 150ft on my quad $100. And I bet that I'd never have to pay anybody.

Replacing whatever parts you need to replace to make my brakes good as new (it's not just the pads), and then changing the carb (with good brakes you might not even have to)....I'm sure it would be a different story.

Just my

Re: fat guy on a quad

My bad, I wasn't taking into consideration "problem quads" hahaha

On any highly maintained 400EX I think it's very doable.
Phear pretty much killed 450 ft. on a Z, and I deffinitley had some long ones on my 4hundo back in 2001 or whenever that was...

You should have no problem learning sit down and stand up no handers with your idle turned up. I'm not a quad hater... but it does ballance itself side to side....
