New England Freestyle Team / Rider Meeting
For the 2004 season, many of us have decided to join forces in creating a freestyle partnership here in New England. It was a thought that C6 had in 2003, but due to indifferences amongst teams and improper direction, it was never successfully executed. Well now as the 2004 season approaches, the thought seems to have been rekindled. I have been approached numerous times by fellow New England riders all with cool ideas and intensions to help organize this partnership idea. I think many of us are finally ready to create this partnership with the hopes it propels this sport further into the general public eye. Like many of you, Core 6 has always felt that team organization is the key ingredient in shinning light on our sport. And even though individual classification is the preferred method in competition, nothing beats a whole movement of organized people to make a statement.
The main purpose of this partnership would be to properly represent us (and our sport) here in New England. Thoughts about how deep this partnership would stem have been discussed in very light conversation so I think it's time we all organize and meet to discuss how far we would like to go with it. Some of the ideas that have been introduced to me are....
- Official Practice Sessions - Each team has their own parking lot they practice in. We could turn these into "little" practice events. Every team could "host" a weekend for other teams.
- Official New England Freestyle Video - Highlighting each team and their style, purpose, direction, status, etc. in New England.
- Official Pool of Shows - Each team cordially invites other teams to participate in each others shows. This will allow more organized "legal" ride time for everyone.
This meeting would ONLY be for people who are seriously interested in a partnership . As I stated above, I think the purpose of this organization would be to indirectly propel this sport into the General Public's eye. I think the more people who actively involve themselves, the better off we will be as a whole movement here in New England. The details of the ideas haven't been worked out and that is why I'd like to call a meeting to find out what people are thinking. Maybe each team has a quota of shows to meet. Maybe each team can produce their own segment in a video. Maybe everyone can chip in money for something.... like renting a parking lot, etc. This would be an organization governed by ourselves.... no one team is bigger than another. This would be a PARTNERSHIP. The ideas are endless and so are the possibilities.
Post your thoughts and I'd like to setup a diner meeting within a month or so.
Thanks,
Core 6 Freestyle
PS. All teams welcome.
:YEAH

Re: New England Freestyle Team / Rider Meeting
yeah, doesn't matter. I know some individual riders (zannmann, for instance) will want to be a part of this. I'm very excited to see where this goes in 2004. Gonna be awesome!!

Well you just dont want team issues carrying over into the venture or what have you. Holding everyone responsible for thier own weight will help put an end to the finger pointing and transferring blame.

You can add TEAMRISK to the list we were actually thinking about approaching a few teams to see if they were interested in making a tape with a few teams from New England. WE have a good parking lot in southern CT if anyone is interested.

Nice. I'll have a meeting date/time soon. I'm just feeling everyone out right now.... see where we're at. This could be awesome. BTW, I'm think $$ should be avoided at all costs. Maybe the show aspect of it could be for "Free Shows" only. I dunno. We'll see what happens at the meeting.

Cant avoid money.. its always gonna come into play... people just need to do it with a business mindset, or have someone handle it for them. Cant have people skipping out on events because they blew their gas money at the bar the night before... it would undermind the whole nature of this venture

Re: New England Freestyle Team / Rider Meeting
This is not a financial venture. Think of it as a nonprofit organization used to benefit everyone "as a whole". Yes, there will be people who put more time in than others. Yes, there CAN be possible financial gains but all indirectly... not directly from this organization. If immediate financial gain becomes involved, then it will be a 100% profit share across the board. This is being designed as central "summit" point for New England Stunt Riders. Maybe independent riders are looking to jump in on a show w/ a team. Maybe some riders can work 1 on 1 with other riders on their own projects..... separate from this. Endless possibilities. Think of it as an agreement between teams to help each other out (when called on). I really have no concrete direction here but I'm not looking to create a new team name, market it, sell it, use it to make $$. Each team will have their own projects, their own marketing, their own financial support system.... this is just an added bonus to knowing other riders in the area.
I DO know that by knowing people, opportunities arise.... and the more people involved, the more people can be known. If every one & every team brings something to the table, then maybe we will grow faster. I dunno.... we'll see where it goes (hence the meeting).
