Paris Hilton Phucked Me
Yeah..... long story short...
Month ago someone e-mails me the paris hilton video clip. I uploaded it to my server (hidden - not public). Passed the link to a friend or two. They e-mail it to a friend or two. They e-mail it to a friend or two.... maybe post it on some forums.... you get the picture. Well, I forget about it and left it on my server.... 2 million hits later I've occupied 954 GIG's of bandwidth for the month of November (I purchased 10gig/mo). My host never contacted me or anything. They never even shut my site down after I exceeded the contracted limit either. So yesterday I see the website is down, I call them. They say I owe $4660.00 in bandwidth charges for the month of Nov. That number doesn't even include Dec (up until yesterday).
Merry phucking Christmas huh.

Have you checked your contract to see if there is a clause that protects you from overages? you paying for 10 gigs and hitting 954 gigs is ridiculous. They should have cut you off long before.
Have you thought about having a 'lawyer' call them and very politely request a copy of your contract as this seems excessive.....
Just a thought. Have someone that sounds professional and can talk the talk, they may back off.
good luck.

wish I got the link

I run a hosting business and I know alot of companies that do this. See they will charge you by the gigabyte a fee if you go over so they set it up to not notify you so they can charge you. I have my hosting business setup different. Once a customer goes over their limit the site is shutdown till they request to buy more bandwidth. I try to be fair but he got you good I guess. Sucks man.

I do wonder about one thing: why didn't you ever check your logs?
Get a lawyer 'cuz you'll definitely need one. Good luck with it.
