1000 mile Iron Butt ride

http://www.minuteman1000.com/

rt and details being finalized, I think its the first weekend of Bike week, not when most of us went up last year.

KB, Hesobroke, thought you two might be interested. Not sure who else. there is a dinner on the friday night and banquet tthe Sunday morning. To ride 1000 miles in 24 hours takes an average of about 42 mph. Gas stops are included in the 24 hours.

I'll post up more next spring, but for those inerested, watch the website for more details amd maybe it will generate some discussion. the boards been slow...............

TEACH C6 will become famous soon enough
one time, i did a lot of miles with chauncey. we rode from his house to ohio, straight through....with gears, no spares, no plugs, filling up every 100 miles bc of our gas tanks...middle of the night...hairy, yet memorable.

teach

count me out though, i dont think my bike has a thousand miles left in it!

To the Pocono's and back must be more than 1,000 miles. So I think I can do this one, cuz I do enjoy banquets.

And hopefully by then I'll have my sidecar rigged up.
Keep us abreast of this event as it develops.

Hmm 1000 miles on the Hawk = 10 gas stops. I think I better go up 1 up front and bown 6 in the rear so I can squeeze out some more mileage!!!

Do you have a Corbin? I'm lucky to get 50 miles on mine without getting off. That seat sucks.

I need to get a corbin for my 954. Last time I road more than 200 miles on it I was ready to burn the thing. KB, I don't get much more than that, usually between 130 and 140 the dummy light comes on. Maybe we could build fuel cells

maybe you could do a couple of key bangs and ignite them, then you could see if you could hit 500 mph like 1000ceecee said......

Some random details:

It is an international group that represents riders who have accomplished cetain milestones, in this case 1k in a day, also another honor is 100k in one year.

Once completed, you have to keep you gas receipts and sign in at check points to be recognized as completing it. Once in you are part of a 'club' yu get a certificate and there was some other stuff. One of there moto's-evidentially they are not Hardley Driven fans- is 'Chrome won't get you home' A lot of these guys run fuel cells and do competitions to drive across the country.

cross counrty sounds good. anyone want to take keith codes' superbike school with me in the spring.

i don't have a corbin but it's not so bad. kb, emily, and ii did close to 600 miles in 13 hours and that wasn't bad at all. i don't know if i want a corbin i might fall asleep.

p.s. i don't want to be in any 'club', but i like riding

If things work out the way I want, I will have a newer ride this spring. So this 1000 mile should be no problem for me.

I heart my Corbin seat!!!

I'm seriously thinking of taking 2 weeks and riding out to Cali and back come spring time.

Leave friday after work and be there Monday night early Tuesday. Then you would have 8 to 10 days to Hang out and rip in Cali.

Who's with me???

Unfortunately I can't take 2 weeks off since I only get 3 weeks total of vacation AND sick time (to be used howeverI want). But, I'm thinking instead of going to North Carolina/Tennessee and riding there. It's not too far, and there are AMAZING roads there. You all know about Deal's Gap, but there's also the Cherohala Skyway, the Blue Ridge Parkway, in addition to all the cool backroads there like in the Cumberland Gap area.

Plus, nothing beats good ole' Southern cooking. Nothing.

Cam,

Let me know when, I have 4 weeks vaca plus 6 sick days. I may have some free time this summer.

Wait, we are talking about riding big bikes, is this allowed any more on this board?
