I plan to ride down there on my bike. When I go by bike I take the New London – Orient Point Ferry. www.longislandferry.com

about that ferry ride...do i need to make a reservation during summer months? and how does your bike stay up? do you just leave it on the kickstand? just wondering cuz i plan on usingthe boat over the summer...i go down to mesquamicut beach(sp) alot...

any info would be kool..thanks

ftrain, I'm not trying to step on toes, I've done it before though.

LEfty,

It is always a good idea to make the reservation just in case there is something going on but in the 5 or 6 times I've used it, it was only nessasary. They are flexible too, if you get there early they will let you on if there is room with no hassles.

I parked, my car, right behind the bikes last time, they tie them down with tie downs. The guy who was there ha a gold wing so he pulled out some more tie downs and double ties, the guy with the cbr just used theirs and both bikes hadn't moved by the time we docked.

The workers seemed really careful in my opinion. I'd probably bring 2 extra tie downs just for piece of mind.

so i have to make a reservation for my bike in peak season?


and i would want to tie my own bike down i think..if it falls at least i did it and not the boat dude.

I always make reservations for my car. I never made them for my bike. If we are going down with 10 or more of us then maybe we should make reservations for our bikes.

I never had my bike tied down. I usually place it near a wall. I guess if it was winter and very rocky I would lay my bike down on the ground.
