cool trip i made to NY last weekend>

nothing super special, but this is the bike i bought for my best friend who moved up to the albany area last year. I found a well kept 95 kawi zx6r that had only been 1 owner, garage kept, new tires, D&D slip on, and 17k miles for $3k even that was only 2 hours south of my friends house and he met me on my way to my way up, so i could load it on my trailer and suprise my friend w/ it.

My best friend had no idea i was coming up to see him (10 hr drive each way) much less buying him a bike. Long story short, he had to sell his mint 93 cbr 1000f about 1.5 years ago and has no disposable income to spend on another. So i wanted to hook him up w/ a nice bike to ride this summer.

Here is me picking up the bike:

*guy in the red truck was the previous owner*

all the bike needed basically was a fresh oil change & as luck has it my friend has a big bike shop only a mile from his house.

Was pretty funny b/c he had to buzz me into his apt complex, but he didnt ask who it was, so i came up the steps and he was on the phone but standing by his apt door & was like "wtf are you doing here" - so i told him "i need you to fix my laptops (which he was planning to do by phone that night) and figured i'd just bring them to you". So at this point he's wrapping up his call & i throw him the keys to the bike (which he doesnt know is parked outside nor that i brought the bikes) and they have a Kawi Green key chain & he's like "what the hell are these" - i said "come check out what i brought up" - anyway - he was blown away and didnt know how to react. But loved the gift & i handed over a bill of sale to him in his name from signed by the seller as well as the clean title and gave him the bike.

This me w/ the bikes parked at my friends place on friday last week (i got up there thursday night about 8pm & by 10am friday he was insured & tagged) in Troy, NY:

and my buddy w/ his new bike:

The weather outlook for last weekend up there was horrible, said partly cloudy friday and t'storms/flash floods throughout saturday & sunday.....so we figured we'd try to get some good riding in friday afternoon. We ended up going up through the mountains from Troy up through VT & part of MA and was a great ride. We got about 150 miles in before we called it a day.

Then we got lucky on saturday and were able to get some rides in between some mild showers & then sunday was actually sunny and warm. All the heave rain, t'storms, and flashfloods only happened at nights.

Here are some random pics:

getting some fuel

me being a poser

my friend

then we stopped for lunch:

then as we were riding saturday evening and a bird flew right into the side of his helmet & i nearly ran it over as it fell to the ground, then sunday afternoon he had a bee fly into his shirt & got stung:

guess he took the pain for being in the lead!

I also let him take a spin on my xr50 (88cc bored) since he hadnt even gotten to see them in person:

and finally today i installed my rear fender eliminator, took off my rear pegs to send off for custom LED turn signals:

and this is what the turn signals will look like (i'll have them back saturday)

All in all we got about 400-450 miles in while avoiding the rain, was a great time and some great riding. Never pulled over in the mountains to get any pics though, was too busy enjoying the curves!
anyway, thought i would share!

- That's a true friend...there for you in your time of need. You probably just made his whole summer look that much better. That bike looks mint!

I like the turn signals on the RR too!

I know exactly what gas station that is on Hoosick. Rent a store right down the road past the next intersection. Isn't the traffic great?

Tell your buddy to check out www.upstatenyriders.com

Yea I know exactly where he lives - could tell from the pictures. I just brought a computer back to a customer who lived in building K

RT2 through the mountains into MA is a great ride. Going to go do it right now. The petersburgh pass. Nice wide open sweepers.
