Yamaha YSR50 stunt bike

Hey I'm new here, but not new to mini's, I recently picked up a ysr, that i was going to mini road race, but the school/work combo is making it where the drive to the track and race fee's are not an option.

I've had a chinese 110cc pocketbike i tossed a 125 into and racedthat, i recently sold it so i can start fixing up the YSR.

So i'm gonna turn my ysr into a stunter.
its a 87 ysr50, 50cc 2 stroke, 5 speed. Currently running 13/48 spockets, but could buy new ones and go to 12/54 (max i can go without custom made ones)

I know its not ideal to stunt a 2stroke, but thats half the fun i guess. a few questions i have.

1. where is the best/cheapest place to buy 12 0'clock bars for xr/crf 50's, (i'll adapt it to fit)

2. I'm new to the stunt world, all i can do atm is keep a wheelie up for a few seconds, so is there a noob-stunt how-to/tips page around here anywhere?

Pretty sick bike. I've never seen any mini sport bikes made by a legit company.

I would say go to 50stunt.com for a 12 bar if you are going to adapt it to fit.

honda makes a nsr 50cc and a 100cc, i just sold a 1985 nsr 50cc, and everything i think is interchangible up to 2004...darius has a video of him stunting one...as for the 12 bar, thats not a good idea, oh and they wheelie really smooth

Re: Yamaha YSR50 stunt bike

well, it has no title, so not alot of people would want to buy it, and there is no way i would be crateing the thing to ship it out.

I bought it with intentions to race, but with school and work, i cant afford to race it. I'm not sure why its not okay for me to stunt a 22 year old untitled bike when you guys are rolling on 600's +up?

I'm building a crash cage for it though, It will be finished this afternoon, Just gotta bolt it up, and paint it and its good to go. Then I'll get some frame sliders for it as well.

I wouldnt mind selling it, but i'm not shipping it anywhere, unless someone arranged a shipping company to come pick up the bike, crate, and ship it.

If your willing to do that, Email me at FiveStarSky@aol.com for info.

I need to get some better shots of it posted up. i'll do that when i finish the cage later on tonight.

I have a youtube video, but i'm not very good yet. slow wheelies are almost impossible since you gotta keep the rpm's in the powerband.

Re: Yamaha YSR50 stunt bike

I have one of those too, a ysr50 with a yz80 motor in it. Motor is jacked up right now though, it has to be rebuilt, but when I get it back, I am putting my son on it. He is 10 and always asking about getting on it. I showed him these pics and he laughed and asked me to show him how to do that. Great job man, thanks!

lol, just make sure you keep your kid safe, these things can jump out from under ya. I know lots of people that have xr100, yz 80, blaster 200cc, etc swaps. Pretty good chassis for a motor swap.

Its pretty hard to get the rear up, you gotta use your thighs to help pull it up, the wheelies are easy (i'm sure its easier with the yz motor) but the bike is very unballanced.

Make sure you get the 2nd fork spring kit before you try any of this, otherwise the single front spring wont hold the bike up.

Oh definitely on my sons safety. I will look up that 2nd fork spring. Of course he has to get use to it before he can try any stunts, but he has plenty of gear from the dirt bike days. They are wicked!

yeah, its kinda weird seeing a production bike with only one front fork spring, a upper tripple tree that doesnt clamp, I've been holding off on the upper clamp, but now that i'm getting into stoppies, i need to beef up the front end some more, as well as replace my bent up clipons

I'm a safety nerd, and i hate seeing young kids on bikes with no gear or proper training.

I do have an Cheetah bodykit in the mail, pretty much makes it look like a early 2000's R1/R6
