handle bar question??

Do you have to replace the brake line when you put BMX bars on a 50??I know you need the throttle kit but not sure what else

When I put on my fast 50's clamp and bars, the front brake wasn't a problem. The throttle would get snagged if you moved it from stop to stop, but I just had to angle them back a bit more. So you shouldn't have a problem

big bar kit.

dont use regular old BMX bars, I, and a few of my boys have found that they dont work so hot and they break easy. Go back to the Honda Dealer where you bought your bike and tell them you want a "Big Bar Kit" for your XR 50 and they will hook you up. The cost doesnt differ there from any other on-line place or specialty shop. You get all new hardware and new triple clamp. they will supply new kill switch, brake and throttle cables, and even new grips. If your not into having your handle bars break off while your doin a third gear wheelie, then this is what I recommend doing.
PM me if there is any more questions.
Just tryin to save some of your skin homies!!!:-D

Yeah but I don't like the big ones that fast50's and most offer.I like the style of the BMX bars....?How can they just brake from doing a wheelie...don't make sence. It don't look like the stock one's are any stronger

i don't see how bmx bars could brake off on a third gear wheelie,,,but i could be wrong............ i used to beat the **** out of my old BMX bike and it would take it and want more......... Maybe i'm just being biased because i like the look of the tappered BMX bars,,, To bad you cant get the curved handle bar ones,,,,,,,,, i freakig love the feel of those puppies.

The first time I put big bars on my bike, I used regular BMX bars and after a dozen or so crashes the bars were bent and weakened. Then one day I was hangin a wheelie, third gear might I ad, one side broke down by the triple clamp and humpty dumpty fell like a MO_FO
Take my advice or do what everyou want just tellin ya what I figured out to be the best way to go about this. Thats all I can do is offer my advice to you about the bars because I have been there before. And not only did this happen on my person bike but it happened on 2 other of my ridin buddys bikes:p
Hope you figure it out.

Man I've done some crazy drops on a bmx bike and never broken the bars. Blown out tires, bent forks and tacoed rims, but never bars. Mountain bike bars maybe.

Pete, i didn,t have to change any of my cables...

and i agree the fast 50 bars are a bit to big for my liking...

i got haro bars on mine right now...

peace, Micah2X

big pimpin on with those bars bro!! What type of triple clamp is that you have?? Whats up with the two brake levers? You reroute your rear brake? Oh yeah, thats a billet throttle right? and is that the stock brake lever? Because i hear the billet throttle will only fit the stock brake lever.... but yours looks big??

throw down some specs!

Okay the rear brake is just rigged up with old bmx brake parts I had lyin' around. Its not strong enough to lock up the rear tire but it does work for balancing your wheelies.

The goose neck is a fast 50's item as well as the throtle. I had no problems with the cable being to short.

Yo metal doc....the back brake set up you got...did you make it yourself??I notice that the one from fast50s.com says that you remove your back brake and put it up front,But I don't want to do that...I like your setup you have the hand brake and a foot brake..that's trick!I've looked at the pic and it looks like you just fabricated your own....any pointers?

Made it myself. Just fabbed up the L - bracket then the rest of it works like a reg BMX brake system. I will post a better pic when I get home from work .
