Haha id beat the **** outta that KTM wit my Kawa Kx500. Ive kept up with a gsxr 750 before, dead even. Of course a dirtbike is gonna beat a 600cc streetbike, less weigt which means more power to weight ratio! Kick *** on the dirtbikes man. Cant wait to get a 929 though haha.

Re: Dirtbike outruns streetbike in the twisties...

Ummm? How do U figure?

KTM - 328lb/62hp = 5.29lb/hp

Kawasaki - 362lb/120(?)hp = 3.01lb/hp

The Kawasaki has a far superior power to weight ratio...

Wow tell me you didnt just waste your time actually checking that out haha. And i figure that because the dirtbike DID beat the streetbike. And that KTM dosent weight that much. The dry weight of my bike is around 220 give or take a few. I doubt the KTM has that much more weight but who knows. Haha good man for lookin that up, your a funny guy

No, I didn't need to look it up. I knew that already.

It was my own KTM, modified, owned and ridden by me so I should now what it weighs. It's one of KTMs most street adapted bike and far frome a race bike.

Can't compare that do a KX500. That's 2 stroke and a race bike...

Re: Dirtbike outruns streetbike in the twisties...

Yea thats true, those KTMs are realiable as hell and a great trail bike if i must say but not meant for speed at all. Ive ridden the new KTM 550 i think it was, buddy just got one and i thought it would have more pull than it did. Im just used to my Kx, yo can barely hang on haha. First time i let my friend ride it he literally flapped in the wind, i mean legs behind the bike flapping haha. Forgot to tell him take it easy... there is no first gear to speak of haha. Bike eats anything that it comes to. I could take most streetbikes in the 1/4 on it.

I have it slightly modded:
Bored out 502cc
Ported and polished
CUSTOM supercharger, thats right i made one, i think the first ever
When i got it the gears were slightly tooled with
So id say im pushin around 80+ hp down from 65 stock. Not bad eh?
1/4 mile time, High 10's...about 10.8 - 11.2 at 110mph, give or take

Re: Dirtbike outruns streetbike in the twisties...

Let me bolt the cylinder back on and ill get a vid of it. Goin out of town for 2 weeks to the bahamas and when i get back ill work on it. I gotta get some pics of the supercharger on here. It actually works really sick too. i usually replace the top end every year as your supposed to but with all the mods i usually go about 6 or 7 months of hard riding before its done. I blew a piston and cracked the cylinder one time already haha. Ill keep ya posted on that ****.

Re: Dirtbike outruns streetbike in the twisties...

I just have to make a decent blowoff valve for it, the one now kinda ****s the engine up. the turbine dosent slow down enough when i let off the gas so the bike drowns out, either too much gas or too much air im not sure. havent had enough time to experiment with it. any ideas what i could use for the blowoff valve?

Trust me you wouldnt be as powerful as you would think. Dont get me wrong that is a hell of alot of bike to be on a dirtbike frame my man... but a 2 smoker has alot of torque and get go. You have to ride one i guess to know what i mean.

Re: Dirtbike outruns streetbike in the twisties...

motards can lean into turns way more than street bikes, thats why they are faster in the twisties...
