The bike is so light you don't really have to gear it at all. I don't like to us the clutch so I went down one tooth in the front and that is all you need on this bike. With one down in the front you must cover the rear brake in first gear. The bike just snaps right up in first gear. I lift second I would say at 25 mph no clutch stand up. My opinion one down in the front is all you need. Plus you don't ***** that much top end for when your riding on the highway.

Use the clutch when doing wheelies, your better off learning that way.

My advice, take your bike the first day you get it, roll it down your driveway and let go...pick it up and your ready to ride:helmet

ok i'm sorry.... my opinion is 954 is ok but wont hold up for stunting....

the best bike ever is 93 rr frame with 99 suspention and brakes & 99 motor.... with a few tricks & welds here and there....

but the bike all depends on your style of riding..
personal favorates 929, 900, f2, f3, f4i....thats about it....

but if you really want to have fun...buy a cr 250
