900's were the **** and once you get the idle up stuff, you'll see how inconsistent the carbueration is compared the fuel injection and you will begin to hate your bicycle...You'll notice that on certain days and in certain weather conditions, your bike will NOT run strong and on others, it'll run beautiful. Then you'll get really tired of dealing with less than half tank of gas = bike runs like garbage up there, etc...One day = 200 foot no handers, the next you can't get 50 feet...Then you'll modify the fuel lines, etc...and realize **** still sux...then you'll tune it up, and realize **** still sux...lol...

Fuel injection is where it's at...if you notice, most people are rocking Gixxer 1000's now, it's because the god damn bike literally does 90% of the work for you...you have so much room for error on trix and your bike ain't commin back...do a no handed trick and hit that brake just a tad bit too hard on a 900, the **** will fall, do one on a GSXR 1000 and that thing will come back even if it's half way down. Now think of the dudes on the 600's...damn, there's some mad talent there!!!

Also, the new bikes are straight as an arrow...no more rocking side to side as much as on the 900's.

There's a lot about the new bikes that make riding that much funner and a little easier than the relic...

I'm chaulking up my bike and have decided to ride a 929...and we all know how anti 929 I was back in the day...a lot has changed though...and I need a change...

The biggest thing about the 900's that sux is the carbs...if you put a 919 motor in the bad larry, the bike would be PRIME! That's pretty much the main reason I'm givin it up...

And it's an antique...lol...

I was talking w/ Mike Banfield last night about modifying the new FI 919 motor.... maybe hyping it up a bit and throwing it into a 900RR frame. I think that motor is so de-tuned, it would be next to impossible to convert. You'd need to change cam's, valves, etc. FORGET THAT!!

I really like my 900 for stoppies because I can feel the weight transfer. I ride a 929 or 954 and I can't feel ****!! The brakes are so good and the bike is so light, you can't feel a pull in any direction. I can't tell where I am as far as height.

I will say... I'm sick of running out of gas in a wheelie and I am learning how much easier (physically) **** could be on a newer, lighter, more precise engine powered bike. Carbs suck for some things, but are great for others. Now that throttle control isn't an issue so much as brake control, the forgiveness of the carb'd throttle doesn't matter so much.

I'll be on a 929 or 954 before I know it.... I can already tell.

Bri

I'd have to say, 900's are great for stoppies! You can feel everything! On the newer bikes, it's different for sure! Smooth, presise, yet you can't "feel" the weight transfers and mistakes as well.

I don't know if that's a good or bad thing...i'll let you know soon though. It might be a suspension issue though, but I'm not about to mess with my suspension on the new bike...eeeyyyaaa...had bad luck with previous bikes modifying suspension settings...

I like the idea of a more consistant fuel delivery system......But I am so comfy on the 900! Bri's right...the 919 motor is very de-tuned....actually the things a peice of crap! So thats out. But I can't complain about my bike, it runs good most of the time. For now I will deal with having to top it off every ten minutes, burbleing, farting, spiting, popping..ect.ect. ahhhhhh...maybe I should get a 929!!!!!!

Lata,

bla bla bla bla bla

A mint 900 is not worth more then a mint 929. Check the blue books.

I think his bike is so nice but it is 5 years old. It is in mint shape but who is going to buy a 900, a stunter, poser, or knee dragger. A stunter would be the right answer. Now does a stunter want a cheap 900 or pay extra money for a blinged out one. I think cheap would be the answer. Any knee dragger or poser will take a 954 or 929 over a 900 anyday. 900 are over weight and under powered compared to the new bikes out there.

Now if you still had your 929 I do not think it would be the 900 you are defending.
