Chroming frame...R6...
Hello people...
Name; Kevin, where am I?? Quincy...Ride an 01 R6...
Thoughts??? Maybe chrome the frame?? Where can I get it done and does anyone have an idea what it'll run me? I'd be leaving it during any of the winter months to have it done...

you can chrome it, polishing the frame might be cheaper though. Kickstands & Wheelies does nasty work, there out of maine.

tell them DTE sent you.
do you just plan to get the frame done or are you going to do up the whole bike?

While on the topic of chrome frame I have a question.
Does chroming the frame weaken the frame? I heard that rumor before.
Second if I decide to polish my frame is there anything I can put on it that will make it last longer between polishing?
I have the frame off my 954 and debating what todo. I do not want to chrome it because I have yet to have a bike last longer then a year.
I am left with two option. Either polish it or paint it. I thought bob's 900 being painted red was pretty cool but I always liked when I had my TL1000 polished but the frame would get very hot to the touch.
choices choices choices. Any ideas what todo to my 954 stunt machine. This bike is not bling bling.

Since I'm back in here, I'll help you there fbomb...
Chrome will not weaken the frame but it tends to hold heat. Chrome actually covers the metal which changes heat dispersion throughout of the frame. You will run hotter and the bike will be heavier. Another thing with Chrome is when you ruin it, you ruin it. It's very tough / near impossible to remove a scratch. If you polish the frame you can buff it out.
Polishing is the way to go but it's tough to keep clean. Polishing, if done incorrectly, can also weaken the frame. Make sure whoever polishes your bike doesn't sand down the welds. Polishers tend to rid the weld bead to make a smoother finish and this will weaken the weld / frame.
Unless you plan on seriously banging that frame around, I wouldn't worry about the welds and get it polished. MY $.02
