Street Legal YZ450f Build
Just wanted to start a thread so that I could keep track of my build.
I was planning on getting a wr250x but when I saw this bike at the dealership I just had to get it. They basically gave it to me because it had been sitting there for so long. It was already street legal but still in dirt trim.
This is what the bike looked like when I picked it up from the dealership on 11/28/08.
Then I put on some monster graphics and acerbis rally pro handguards. These will be my track plastics. Im using white plastics for the street.
Finally my order from Motostrano comes in.
Test fitting the wheel.
I really want to get a Brembo front brake setup but I need to sell my mini motard first. So I just went with a cheap ebc rotor until then.
Here it is with the wheels on.
Supermoto fender and supermoto handguards on. I still need to put the chain on and figure out a way to mount the sensor for the trail tech vapor on the rotor.
More to come tomorrow. Hoping to get the chain on and then I have to put a chain block on to keep the chain from chewing up the tire and possibly hitting the rim.

Re: Street Legal YZ450f Build
you will love that ebc rotor on that 450. more brake than you will ever need. you should have posted up i have a brand new ebc blur rotor in the box. just run the vapor down the forks and put the magnet on the rotor

I have the vapor all hooked up but the bolt with the magnet on it that I was using with my stock rotor won't work. I'll just jb weld a tiny round magnet to the rotor like I did with my old bike. Good to hear that about the rotor, maybe I can save some money on the brake system.

I'll probably make a trip to htown after the holidays and what not. Jordo has some pimp spots with no **** cops. Very cool cops actually. You should plan on that since it's only 2+ hr drive for you

I just got the seat cover on and now I have to tear the subframe off to install the chain block. I'll post some pics tonight. Still debating on where to mount the license plate as well. I really want to mount it up inside the rear fender so that there is nothing hanging off the back but at the same time getting hassled by the cops sucks.
I should be able to do that. I've been needing to go to houston anyway to see some family.
Thanks. Riding the streets on a 450 is so much fun.
Fo sho man. I got a dead end road i ride at which is nice for combos. Mexico is next door and the spots are endless but a little slick.

I got the chain on.
Pulled the subframe so that I can drill and tap the top of the swingarm for the chain block.
Notched the chain buffer and now test fitting the Graves Motorsport chain block.
Started putting the white plastics on but I don't know if I like them. I'll see what it looks like all put together but I might just go back to the blue plastics.
